Life drawings from full moon bondage party in Berlin.
These are life drawings of a model in Japanese Bondage (“Kinbaku”). Rope artist, Arisue Go, holds an occasional life drawing session at the studio of painter, Hideyuki Usuki, in the Kagurazaka neighborhood of Tokyo. I had the good fortune to attend in January 2012 and make these sketches.
Yesterday I participated in the Center for Sex and Culture’s annual “Nude Aid” event. It was an interesting opportunity to draw some models in full suspension rope bondage. It was really a lot of fun and I look forward to doing more drawing like this in the future.

These are sketches made mostly in pen and ink and primarily in the late ’80s and early ’90s. I’d like to make stencils from the figures and shapes in the drawings and incorporate the stencils into new paintings. Some of these drawings have been stretched for a video project where they needed to fit a 3:4 aspect ratio. This is posted as a reference for collaborators, but it’s OK – anyone can look at it.
